why dose the military get special treatment?

I would like to know why when someone goes in to the military we are suppose to say oh "I'm sorry you are going off to war" and feel bad and sorry for them? or "sorry your going overseas". We don’t do that for firefighters or for police officers. Yet we do it for the people in the military....WHY? It’s their job to go over and do what they are doing...no one is forcing them to go...they signed up on their own free will...now if they were drafted that would be another story. But they go over there and come back and we are supposed to give them a parade...WHY?! For what doing their job? I don’t see anyone holding a parade for the wild land firefighters that saved houses and people and animals during the many California fires....do they get an oh my gosh thank you so much or anything....no they don’t. They don’t go around asking for it ether they DO THERE JOB then go home at the end of the 3 to 6 months they are gone from their family. Without even a glance or thank you. What about the firefighter and police officer that does it every day.....where is there parade? Where is there you are doing a great job? We don’t give them one why because they are doing their job! Just like everyone else...so why is it that if you go in to the military you get special treatment when they are just doing their job?
